FlyBy Nav Data Files

For Palm OS Devices

Updating from an older data file? Please download the "FlyBy Data Restore" application to restore your user waypoints.

FlyBy Nav Data:

The U.S. data supplied is compiled from the U.S. NFDC. Effective 17 Dec. 2009. The Canadian data was compiled from Natural Resources Canada, effective 04/11/1999.

The data files are VERY large and demand a lot of resources from you Palm. The largest file contains 15,400 waypoints (over 30,000 records).
- Airports with runways less then 3,000' were not included in the Canadian airport data.
- US Naviad data contains VORs and NDBs only.

Installation Instructions:

1. Download the file you need and then unzip it.
2. The
Waypoint File file contains the two waypoint files, FlyByWyptDB and FlyByCityDB. FlyByWyptDB contains the bulk of the waypoint information. FlyByCityDB is the city name index file.
3. Use the Palm Install Tool (Quick Install) to transfer the data files to your Palm Device.

Warning: Installing a note file will overwrite your existing notes. Do not install if you wish to keep your old note data!

FlyBy Data Restore

Click to download: UserRestore.zip ( 53 KB)

FlyBy Nav keeps a separate data file called FlyByUserDB which contains waypoints that you have input yourself, or waypoints that you have edited. Anytime you selected "Save" (after viewing a waypoint or inputting a new one), a copy of the waypoint data was saved in this file. This feature was created so that you could restore your own waypoints back into a completely new waypoint data base.

"FlyBy Data Restore" will copy your user waypoint file into a new main waypoint file.

Using FlyBy Data Restore

Unzip the UserRestore.zip file on your PC.

Install the "UserRestore.PRC" file into your Palm device.

When you run the program, the first screen will show you how many duplicate waypoints are in your UserDB file.

The first thing you should probably do is press [View User Data]. You will then be able to view all the waypoints that are in your UserDB. You will also be able to delete any that you no longer require.

The [Insert] function will only copy waypoints from your UserDB that are unique. It will not overwrite any new waypoints.

[Confirm Duplicates] lets you view each duplicate waypoint so that you may choose to overwrite the new waypoint with your old data or skip the insertion.

The [Replace All] function will simply copy all of your UserDB back into the main data file and will overwrite any waypoints that have the same identifier.
